MONOLITI

izlozba, arhitektura
Luka Pavelka

The concept of the project and the following exhibition was mainly based on Luka’s research about perception and interaction between the observer and the presentations of imaginary space. The idea was developing towards moving out of the secong dimension.

Creating the artworks, center of interest was the contrast between a personal impression of the sky as an endless mystic environment and the objects of closed and opened forms. The precise geometry of the white monolythic objects is emphasized by the sky as a churned and dramatic ambient of dark depths.

The starting point in developing Monoliths was finding ways to present widening of space within the given frames – meter by fifty centimeters plane. Separation of plans was achieved by using strong contrasts, precise geometry and the phisical three-dimensionality of the area.

Being in a constant contact with different shapes and objects, I noticed how the appearance changes depenging on the angle and the point of view. With these artworks, my intention was to encourage the observers to take an individual approach, providing them with the ability to perceive each artwork from a different angle, to receive a different visual experience.

That’s how Monoliths were created. Sky as a part of visual display, which all of us experience as an open, endless space which cannot be captured, I presented as an element which on the contrary to the usual perception of infinity, can be dimensioned.
